The
prototype buildings are found in the city of Fagersta in the
northern part of the county of Västmanland.
The station area was built in the southern part of
Fagersta, called Västanfors.
The stationhouse was built in the year of 1900 at the junction of
two new railway lines.
At that time the station was named Västanfors station. 1947 the
station was renamed to 'Fagersta Central' ' and became the main
station in Fagersta / Västanfors.
At the same time the minor northern station was renamed to 'Fagersta
Bruk'
The exterior hasn´t changed very much since 1900, but the use of
the building has changed during the times.
The station
is still in function with a ticket hatch and traffic office.
In the house's left part, the area's libraries are held.
In the house's right part, there is a travel agency.
The station
building was built in the same style as many other stations of
different sizes along
the west/east running line between Örebro/Frövi and
Avesta/Krylbo.
